Internal Reporting Channel
The Internal Whistleblowing Channel (CDI) is a tool created to provide the academic community with a safe and appropriate space to report situations that violate the legal, ethical, and moral principles that govern the Institution.
Who can report?
Anyone who becomes aware of an act that violates the law or the ethical and moral principles governing the Institution can use the Internal Whistleblowing Channel (CDI) to report the situation. This includes members of the academic community, staff, faculty, students, and any other individual aware of a violation.
It is important to highlight that whistleblower protection is guaranteed, as defined by Law No. 93/2021 of December 20, also known as the Legal Framework for the Protection of Whistleblowers of Corruption (RGPDI).
How to report?
The report must be submitted in writing through:
- Designated form
- Email message to denuncia@islagaia.pt
- Postal mail, addressed to: Internal Whistleblowing Channel | Rua Diogo de Macedo, nº192 4400-107 Vila Nova de Gaia
Regardless of the means used, compliance with the GDPR and the necessary confidentiality of the information is ensured, in accordance with the CDI Regulations.
What information should be provided?
Identification of the whistleblower and contact details [name, ID number (student, faculty, staff), role, email address, and phone number], which may be submitted anonymously;
Context of the reported situation, specifically:
- A detailed description of the situation;
- The time it occurred, whether it is ongoing, or expected to occur;
- Identification of the offender(s);
- Indication of whether the information has already been shared with any responsible parties or others—if so, who and when, and what response was received;
- Any other relevant information for the analysis and follow-up of the reported situation, including, if available, documentary evidence or other supporting elements.
How is the report handled?
Upon receipt of the report, the necessary procedures to investigate the situation are triggered with confidentiality guaranteed. The procedures are defined in the CDI Regulations.
The whistleblower, when identified, is kept informed of the procedures undertaken and, within a maximum of 7 working days, receives the decision resulting from the preliminary analysis and any actions that may subsequently follow.
