Cloud Computing

Cybersecurity
  • ApresentaçãoPresentation
The Cloud Computing curricular unit falls within the field of IT infrastructures and distributed systems and plays an important role in the technical education of students in the Cybersecurity programme. Its main focus is the understanding and use of cloud computing environments, addressing the principles, models and architectures that support modern cloud infrastructures. The unit covers core concepts such as virtualization, computing resources, networking, storage and service organization in cloud environments. Within the study cycle, this curricular unit contributes to the development of essential competencies related to the analysis and use of cloud infrastructures, providing a solid foundation for subsequent curricular units in systems administration and cybersecurity.
  • ProgramaProgramme
Content description Introduction to cloud computing Fundamental concepts of cloud computing Evolution from traditional computing to cloud environments Role of cloud computing in the context of cybersecurity Cloud computing models and architectures Service models: IaaS, PaaS and SaaS Deployment models: public, private, hybrid and multicloud Cloud architectures and data centres Virtualization and cloud resources Virtualization concepts and hypervisors Virtual machines in cloud environments Computing, storage and networking in the cloud Cloud computing platforms Introduction to major cloud platforms Use of Microsoft Azure in an academic context Creation and management of basic cloud resources Networking and connectivity in cloud environments Virtual networks, subnets and addressing Security groups, access rules and service exposure Analysis of network configuration errors in cloud environments
  • ObjectivosObjectives
The Cloud Computing curricular unit aims to provide students with fundamental knowledge of cloud computing, enabling them to understand and use cloud infrastructures in different contexts. Students are expected to be able to: Understand the principles and models of cloud computing. Identify the main components of cloud infrastructures, including computing, storage and networking. Use cloud platforms to create and manage basic resources such as virtual machines. Understand the role of virtualization in cloud environments. Analyse cloud usage scenarios, developing autonomy and critical thinking in problem solving.

  • MetodologiaMethodology
The Cloud Computing curricular unit adopts practice-oriented and problem-based learning methodologies focused on real-world cloud computing scenarios. Classes combine theoretical exposition with laboratory activities, fostering the progressive use of cloud platforms for the creation, configuration and management of resources. Innovative approaches include project-based and problem-based learning, using real cloud environments to simulate professional contexts. Students are encouraged to experiment, document and reflect on the adopted solutions, fostering autonomy, critical thinking and teamwork.
