    This unit introduces students to content management systems (CMS) within the context of the digital economy, highlighting their role in creating and managing an online presence. The focus is on the practical use of WordPress, supported by visual page builders and lightweight themes that enable intuitive page development without unnecessary technical complexity. Throughout the semester, students build a complete website — either institutional or e-commerce — applying principles of content organisation, navigation, usability and basic optimisation. The unit is closely aligned with Web Marketing, allowing students to integrate content, best practices and digital strategies, resulting in a functional digital product suited to the demands of the digital economy.

    The unit covers the fundamental principles of content management systems and their role in building an online presence. It focuses on the practical use of WordPress, including installation, initial configuration, and the management of pages, posts, menus, media and users. Students work with visual page builders and themes that support intuitive page creation. Essential plugins, basic security practices, performance optimisation and usability principles are introduced. The unit concludes with the development of a website or online store aligned with Web Marketing strategies, integrating content, navigation, functionality and digital best practices.

Peer assessment during presentations fosters analytical skills and technical argumentation.
