Geography and Spatial Planning
Tourism Management
-
ApresentaçãoPresentationThe syllabus of this course unit builds on core geographical concepts to examine and explain the dynamics of tourism across territories and the factors shaping tourist flows. Climatic, landscape, economic and technological factors influence these movements, often originating in more developed regions and producing a range of impacts in tourist destinations. Although tourism is commonly associated with economic development, this is not always the case. This requires policies and planning criteria that guide development and spatial planning, while safeguarding the well-being of host communities. Throughout the unit, students will be encouraged to reflect on the conditions needed for tourism to benefit all stakeholders.
