The Student Card is essential for your daily life at ISLA Gaia. It is mandatory and free of charge, allowing you to manage both your academic and/or financial life.
This academic year, you have two types of student cards available: the Caixa IU Student Card and the ISLA Gaia Digital Student Card.
1. Caixa IU Student Card

Did you know you can already request your Student Card – Caixa IU Card?
Caixa Geral de Depósitos will be presente at ISLA Gaia during 3 to 13 october, from 10:00h to 18:00h, at level 0 (next to reception).
The Caixa IU Card is a 3-in-1 solution:- Debit Card
- Student ID Card
- Discount Card
What do you need to request it?
- Citizen Card or equivalent identification document with tax number;
- Proof of address, if you are not a Portuguese citizen.
You can also request your Caixa IU Card here, wherever and whenever it’s most convenient for you. To get your Studant Card, simply authorize the sharing of your data with Caixa during enrollment and activate your Digital Mobile Key (CMD) and digital
signature at https://www.autenticacao.gov.pt/a-chave-movel-digital.

Note: Students enrolled in individual course units (so-called external students) cannot apply for a student card, as they are not officially considered university students. Only when they meet higher education access requirements, submit a formal application, and become internal students will they be eligible for a student card.
2. ISLA Gaia Digital Student Card
The ISLA Gaia Digital Student Card is a non-banking card that will be made available to all first-year students (i.e., new students), except those enrolled in individual course units / external students.
Are there any requirements to get my digital card?
You must visit the CGD stand at your institution during the indicated period.
What happens if I don’t visit the CGD stand?
The app will not unlock, and you won’t be able to access your digital student card.
What happens if I miss the CGD stand dates?
You will later receive instructions on how to proceed, which may involve going to a CGD branch.
How do I access my digital student card?
- Students (2nd year and beyond, any cycle) – The card is generated automatically;
- New students – The card is generated after CGD has been present at ISLA Gaia or any Lusófona institution;
- Students not enrolled in 2025/26 – A message is displayed stating the card has expired and will not be made available.
