Every year, ISLA – Polytechnic University of Management and Technology welcomes more than a hundred Erasmus students and students from other exchange programmes from partner institutions around the world. If you would like to spend a period of study at our institute, find out about the application procedure for ISLA – Polytechnic University of Management and Technology.

Studying at ISLA – Polytechnic University of Management and Technology through the Erasmus+ Programme

The ERASMUS+ programme offers mobility opportunities for studies (SMS) and internships (SMP). These opportunities depend on the existence of a prior agreement between the Higher Education Institution of origin and ISLA – Polytechnic University of Management and Technology. So, if you would like to study at ISLA – Polytechnic University of Management and Technology as a mobility student, you should first contact the International Office of your home university to see what courses are available. If there is a valid bilateral cooperation agreement between your university and ISLA – Polytechnic University of Management and Technology, your institution may nominate you to spend a period of study with us.

The admission procedure for mobility students coming to ISLA – Polytechnic University of Management and Technology includes two compulsory stages:

  • The home institution nominates the student to ISLA – Polytechnic University of Management and Technology
  • The student submits the mobility application to ISLA – Polytechnic University of Management and Technology

Who can apply?

  • All students from Partner Universities who have been nominated by their Home Institution can take part in mobility for studies at ISLA – Polytechnic University of Management and Technology.
  • Students must submit their nominations to their own university services.
  • The home university handles the official nominations of the students and sends them by email to ISLA – Polytechnic University of Management and Technology.

Deadlines for Nomination and Incoming Application

Incoming Application Calendar

The application period for Erasmus+ mobility takes place according to the following phases:

Nomination of students – 30 April Nomination of students – 30 September
Submission of application – 31 May Submission of application – 31 October
Approval by the mobility coordinator – 30 June Approval by the mobility coordinator – 30 November
Sending of acceptance letters – 15 July Sending of acceptance letters – 15 December

Applications are accepted if they fulfil the following requirements:

  • The nomination must be made by the home institution.
  • Only nominations and applications submitted by the deadline will be accepted. For more information, please contact: paulo.furtado@islagaia.pt
  • The official nomination does not mean that the student has been accepted. All applicants must wait for an email with instructions regarding the next steps. After receiving this email, the student must complete the application process and wait for confirmation of acceptance.

Applying for Erasmus+ Incoming Mobility

Incoming applications are made online via email and through the Online Learning Agreement (OLA). Nominated candidates will be contacted by email by the Institutional Relations and Mobility Office of ISLA – Polytechnic University of Management and Technology. The email will contain instructions for formally completing the mobility application. If you have any questions, please contact: paulo.furtado@islagaia.pt

    1. Check your email for instructions made available once your nomination has been accepted.
    2. Gather all the requested documents.
    3. Send the following documents via email:
      • 1 Photograph
      • Identification document
      • Curriculum Vitae
      • Transcript of Records
      • Language Certificate (B1 – English)
      • Health Insurance Document
      • Learning Agreement (if still using the paper version)

Once your Erasmus+ mobility application has been accepted

Once your application has been accepted, you will receive a confirmation letter via email from the Institutional Relations and Mobility Office of ISLA – Polytechnic University of Management and Technology.

Documents you should have with you

  • Learning Agreement if there are any changes to the original document
  • Insurance
  • European Health Insurance Card
  • English Language Certificate (B1) or Portuguese Language Certificate (B1) with international certification – TOEFL, ESOL, IELTS or OLS
  • Letter of Acceptance
Free Mobility

Free mobility is available to any student. This modality does not include the award of a mobility grant and requires the payment of emoluments and tuition fees, in accordance with the service orders in force.

As free movers, students are also obliged to submit their application to ISLA – Polytechnic University of Management and Technology, which will be assessed by the respective Mobility Coordinator.

Free mover students are subject to the payment of emoluments and tuition fees, in accordance with the Service Orders in force.
