  The course unit Audiovisual Technologies and Equipment introduces students to the main devices, tools, and technical processes used in sound and image capture. It covers cameras, lighting systems, microphones, recorders, file formats, and storage methods, providing a solid foundation for audiovisual practice. The unit focuses on understanding how equipment functions, its applications in contexts such as film, television, advertising, and new media, and the integration between theoretical knowledge and technical operation. This course is fundamental within the study cycle, as it develops essential practical skills that enable students to configure, operate, and maintain audiovisual equipment with autonomy, critical thinking, and technical accuracy, contributing to their performance in future units related to directing, production, and post-production.

  1. Introduction to audiovisual technologies and equipment 2. Types of cameras: sensors, formats, codecs, exposure (ISO, shutter speed, aperture) 3. Lenses: focal lengths, depth of field, perspective 4. Lighting systems: principles, hard/soft light, three-point lighting 5. Microphones: types, polar patterns, recording techniques 6. Sound equipment: recorders, field recording, levels and connectors 7. Grip and stabilization: tripods, sliders, rigs, gimbals 8. Audiovisual studio: monitors, mixing consoles, projectors 9 Storage systems: memory cards, drives, backups, data transfer 10. Best practices in operation, safety and maintenance 11. Practical workshops: setup, rehearsals, sound and image testing 12. Small group recording exercise (lighting + sound) 13. Analysis of film excerpts and technical discussions (e.g., Persona, The Great Beauty)

  -  Understand the functioning of the main audiovisual equipment: cameras, microphones, recorders, and lighting systems. - Know the technical specifications and best practices for equipment use in different professional contexts. - Develop practical skills in configuring and operating sound and image equipment. - Apply appropriate techniques for audiovisual capture in both studio and outdoor environments. - Perform basic maintenance and troubleshoot common technical issues. - Integrate theoretical and practical knowledge when selecting suitable equipment for different projects. - Work collaboratively in the operation of equipment and in the preparation of audiovisual exercises.
