    The Fundamentals of Design course unit aims to provide students with knowledge of design practices, languages and methods in the context of the development of multimedia communication solutions. For the development of products/applications, it is essential that the student develop skills in terms of Design methodology, understanding all stages of the process; the organization of the different graphic elements and the visual composition, allowing  to create human-centered communication objects; and that adopts methodologies that encourage creativity and innovation in the creation and presentation of visual proposals for different communication media.

    1. Communication design: - Practices, languages and methods; - Design methodology. 2. History of Communication Design: - Approach to the historical context of communication design 3. Visual composition: - Notions and organizational principles of visual composition - Compositive relationship - Concept / Image / Text - Image analysis - Grid systems and graphic composition 4. Typography: - Historical evolution of typography; - Analysis and study of typographic fonts; - Practical applications - case studies. 5. Visual identity systems: - Visual identity (branding) historical context; - Elements of a visual identity program; - Corporate identity - Case studies. 6.  Communication design and digital media: - Communication design; - Interface Design; - Design and Visual Mapping; - Methods, guidelines and systematization of basic principles.  7. Graphic composition tools

    This curricular unit aims to sensitize students to understand design practices, languages and methods. Relate design and digital media and develop and explore different formal solutions Skills: -Know the fundamentals of design and its history; -Acquire knowledge of the basic principles of visual communication; ¿-To know how to think, decode information and transform visual codes; -Develop experimental, research and self-critical attitudes; -Being able to implement an artistic project, mastering its different methodological phases. - Master the computer graphics composition tools
