Object Oriented Programming
-
ApresentaçãoPresentationThe curricular unit aims to complement the knowledge of programming by the student body through the teaching of an object-oriented language. This knowledge is obtained through the teaching of the C# language where it is expected that they acquire the necessary knowledge for their programming independently.
-
ProgramaProgrammeIntroduction to object-oriented programming The object-oriented programming paradigm and how it differs from imperative programming; Compiled and interpreted languages; Abstraction and virtual machines. Foundations of object-oriented languages Introduction to data structures and built-in data structures; Creation and manipulation of more complex data structures; A change in approach to creating and using data structures. Programming in C# Variables, arithmetic operators and expressions; Conditional statements, loops, arrays and strings; Defining classes and creating objects; Creating methods and constructors with and without parameters. Object-oriented programming concepts in C# Inheritance, constructors in derived classes and method overriding; Polymorphism and abstract classes; Exception handling; Reading and writing files.
-
ObjectivosObjectivesAt the end of the course unit, the student should be able to: Distinguish imperative programming from object-oriented programming and understand the principles underlying each paradigm. Independently develop C# programs using object-oriented programming principles. Define and use classes, objects, and methods, applying concepts such as encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism, and abstraction. Choose the programming paradigm best suited to implementing a solution, taking into account the needs of each project, particularly in the field of multimedia.

MetodologiaMethodologyThe course is taught through classes that combine theory and practice. The fundamentals of object-oriented programming and the features of C# are presented alongside examples and exercises. Students apply the concepts by solving problems of increasing complexity, with guidance from the lecturer, gradually developing their ability to program independently. Assessment consists of a written test and a compulsory practical project in C#, including an oral defence. The test assesses students' understanding of the concepts and their ability to solve programming problems. The project enables them to apply their knowledge to the design and implementation of a solution.
