    The curricular unit Research Methods and Investigation aims to equip students with the fundamental competencies needed to understand, plan, and conduct studies with scientific rigor in the field of Informatics for Electronic Commerce. The unit covers techniques for data collection and analysis, problem formulation, hypothesis construction, and critical evaluation of sources, preparing students to develop projects, reports, market studies, and evidence-based technological solutions. By integrating critical thinking, scientific methodology, and applied research practices, this unit provides a foundational pillar for the students’ academic development and professional pathways.

  • ObjectivosObjectives
    Provide students with skills to prepare work supported by solid research structures; Encourage a culture of quality in research and encourage research from an early age; Make known the standards that a project report must comply with; Present the fundamental concepts necessary for scientific research and the dynamics of preparing scientific articles; Differentiate the phases of the research and investigation process; Exercise the ability to review adequate bibliography and plagiarism issues; Use bibliographic references and citation management tools. In the end, the student should be able to: Plan the preparation of reports and articles combining the theoretical and practical components of the research; Critically assess the role of research in the field of knowledge and in the field of know-how; Develop a project work with quality; Master the citation rules and bibliographic references.

    Teaching methodologies: The syllabus will be approached using an expository, active and interrogative methodology. To consolidate knowledge, pedagogical activities will be developed such as article analysis, critical reflection group work, practical exercises to simulate the various stages of a research process. Assessment methodology - continuous: Individual research work (report and presentation); 40% Research group work (report and presentation); 60% All students who have not successfully completed continuous assessment may submit a proposal for a research project or project work, at the assessment period defined by the institution.
