Sports Activities and Practices I

Sports Activities Management
  • ApresentaçãoPresentation
The curricular unit Sports Activities and Practices I forms part of the practical component of the Higher Professional Technical Course in Sports Activities Management. It focuses on developing motor, technical and organisational skills within the modalities of football and volleyball. Its scope includes understanding technical-tactical fundamentals, rules, game dynamics and principles of safety and session organisation. The UC operates within the domains of motor learning, introductory sport practice and structured activity delivery. Its relevance to the study cycle lies in providing students with essential practical experience to act effectively in educational, recreational and institutional contexts related to the management and implementation of sports activities.
  • ProgramaProgramme
    1. Overview of the historical evolution of both sports, understanding their functional structure and relevance in the sporting domain. 2. Analysis of game dynamics, phases of play and fundamental technical-tactical principles in football and volleyball. 3. Identification of performance-determinant factors, including technical, tactical, physical and psychological components. 4. Study of rules, game systems and collective organisation, including 7-a-side football and key tactical systems in volleyball. 5. Planning and structuring training sessions, integrating methodological progressions, small-sided games and formal practice. 6. Observation and match analysis, addressing the coach’s role, goalkeeper-specific training and individual behaviours in volleyball. 7. Development of sectorial and intersectorial work, execution of standardised routines and preparation of set-piece situations. 8. Introduction to beach volleyball, its technical specificities and basic tactical organisation.

  • MetodologiaMethodology
The UC applies active, student-centred methodologies grounded in practical experimentation, autonomy and situated learning. Technical skill acquisition is developed through modelling and deliberate practice, complemented by small-sided games that promote understanding of tactical principles in simplified contexts. Game analysis is enhanced through video feedback, supporting the development of observational skills and self-regulation. Simulations, conditioned tasks and micro-competitive challenges stimulate decision-making under pressure. Collaborative learning is strengthened through rotating roles (coach, observer, captain), encouraging an ecological understanding of collective dynamics. The UC also integrates digital tools for session planning, recording and evaluation, fostering technological literacy and critical thinking. These methodologies ensure active, contextualised learning aligned with contemporary training environments.
