  Stimulate the conscious use of the resources of the Portuguese language across various registers; • Promote discursive competences aimed at greater intentionality in communication; • Apply techniques, mechanisms and structures of written and oral expression to achieve more effective communication; • Develop the ability to critically analyse texts, identifying their structure and the objective and/or figurative meaning conveyed through language; • Encourage argumentative skills, with particular emphasis on the clear, precise and deliberate articulation of ideas; • Foster the production of different types of texts, ensuring correct writing (orthographic and grammatical) and adherence to the requirements of the textual typology in question.

• MetodologiaMethodology

  The classes are theoretical–practical in nature and involve the application and development of language-use competences through practical exercises. The lecturer introduces the topics using audiovisual resources or by encouraging discussion and the mobilisation of prior knowledge. Following the presentation and/or discussion, students are encouraged to participate actively in the construction of knowledge, through the reading and analysis of texts of various typologies, the use of diverse materials, and the completion of practical exercises. Pair work and small-group work are prioritised, with moments of sharing in class. Assessment methodology: The following assessment components are used in this course unit, with the respective weightings: – Two written tests: 50% each. The written expression exercises carried out in class constitute essential moments of formative assessment.
