The event will take place at the ISLA Gaia campus in a hybrid format (in-person and online), and is primarily aimed at the academic community of ISLA Gaia and the institutions of the CECAM consortium, involving lecturers, researchers, students and institutional partners, whilst also including students and teachers from other educational establishments. In this first edition, the aim is to promote Media Arts as a tool for pedagogical innovation, fostering dialogue between academia and industry and highlighting student creative output as a central focus for reflection on the collective experience in contemporary higher education.

Ana Oliveira is an Assistant Professor at Lusófona University and a researcher at CICANT – Centre for Research in Applied Communication, Culture and New Technologies. She coordinates the Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Communication and conducts research in the areas of media education, youth participation and pedagogical innovation, coordinating national and European projects on media literacy and digital citizenship.
Gisela Rebelo Magalhães Pedagogical Coordinator at the Gaia Institute of Arts and Image. Holding a Master’s degree in Educational Sciences, she carries out management and pedagogical coordination activities, alongside the development of training programmes. Her professional experience also includes serving on examination boards and competition juries, developing internationalisation projects—particularly within the Erasmus+ framework—managing EQAVET, and coordinating the action plan for inclusive education. She promotes a range of socio-educational projects in the field of arts education, aimed at children and young people.
Julien Diogo is Chief Creative Officer at ICN Agency, PsicoSoma and IAVisus, an Assistant Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu and a Visiting Lecturer at ISAG – European Business School. He specialises in neuromarketing and consumer behaviour, and works as a consultant and author in the field of neuroscience applied to communication, marketing and design.
Laura Oliveira is a Lecturer at ICBAS – University of Porto and a researcher at Rise Health. With a PhD in Biochemistry, she investigates the mechanisms of purinergic signalling in immune system and central nervous system disorders. She was awarded the 2026 Innovative Teaching Practice Award – University of Porto.
Nuno Duarte Martins is the Coordinating Lecturer in Communication Design at IPCA and Director of the Master’s in Digital Design. With a PhD in Digital Media, he carries out academic and scientific work in the fields of design, communication and digital media.

Rui Torres – Full Professor of Communication Sciences at UFP, with experience in Multimedia and Digital Communication, Artificial Intelligence, as well as Digital Literacy and Culture. He is a full member of ICNOVA (Culture, Mediation and Arts Group), Director of ELO (Electronic Literature Organisation) and serves on the Advisory Board of the Centre for Digital Narrative at the University of Bergen, Norway. He is the coordinator of the Digital Archive of Portuguese Experimental Poetry.
Gustavo Costa – A musician, composer and researcher, he holds a PhD in Digital Media from the University of Porto. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Music Production and Technologies and a Master’s degree in Composition and Music Theory from ESMAE, supplemented by a postgraduate qualification in Sonology from the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague (Netherlands) and studies at the Drumtech Music Institute (London).
Rodrigo Carvalho – He is a designer and new media artist from Porto, Portugal. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Design (University of Aveiro, 2005), a Master’s degree in Digital Arts (Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona, 2009) and a PhD in Digital Media (University of Porto/UT Austin Collaboration, 2018). His work in real-time generative art, creative programming and interactive art spans a wide variety of formats, ranging from digital screen-based work, interactive installations and live audiovisual performances to interactive visuals for stage shows. He has presented work at various international events, such as: Sonar Festival (Barcelona), MutekEs (Barcelona), Echo (Dubai), Stereolux (Nantes), Iminente (Lisbon), amongst others. He is also the visual artist behind BorisChimp504 and co-founder of the creative studio Openfield.
