4th edition of ISLA Gaia Science Day
On February 11, ISLA Gaia's Organic Research Unit held the 4th edition of Science Day, an initiative that aims to mobilize the academic community to produce and promote scientific knowledge. .
More than a symbolic celebration, the event is a structured space for sharing, reflecting, and disseminating research, reinforcing the link between teaching, research, and innovation. Science Day is primarily dedicated to students, encouraging the development of critical thinking through the production of scientific posters and short papers, which explore the foundations of research, methodological definition, and academic argumentation.
Teachers take on a guiding role, but it is the students who are the central protagonists, as researchers in training. The 2026 edition exceeded 80 posters and short papers submitted, a milestone that represents not only quantitative growth but also a clear increase in quality, rigor, and scientific ambition. Several works will continue in the form of submissions to conferences and scientific journals, consolidating the institutional commitment to the production of relevant knowledge.
The event also included the celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the presentation of award-winning posters, the presentation of the book Integrating Occupational Safety and Health using Digital Technologies – The case of Building Information Modelling (digital4OSH), the dissemination of the W4OSH – wellbe4OSH group, and a communication on emotional intelligence as a preventive factor in risk management in construction.
The closing ceremony reinforced the idea that Science Day is not just an annual event, but an affirmation of academic maturity and commitment to applied, interdisciplinary science focused on real problems.
