The general objective of the Master's program in Occupational Safety and Health Management is to provide an advanced educational program and qualification for Senior Occupational Safety Technicians and Occupational Safety and Health Management System Managers, in accordance with the parameters defined by labor legislation and Professional Certification in the area, as outlined by the professional statute for Occupational Safety activities (Law No. 42/2012).
The international and national legal framework defines that safety and health activities in the workplace, whether carried out by internal or external resources, must necessarily be led by properly qualified professionals. This professional qualification and the corresponding professional certification mechanisms are provided for in the aforementioned legislation, and the Master's in Occupational Safety and Health Management allows access to this qualification as a Senior Occupational Safety Technician.
This certification is a requirement for professional practice in the field, as well as one of the determining factors for the effective implementation of occupational safety and health practices and principles, as defined by the legal framework. The Master's program also has a strong management component, particularly for the development or improvement of leadership, implementation, or evaluation of Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems within productive organizations, promoting individual value both in technical and scientific terms, as well as in personal training and interpersonal relationships within work organizations. Additionally, the program aims to instill a professional attitude that motivates continuous improvement of work processes and the implementation of best practices that contribute to higher safety levels and a culture of prevention within organizations.

Applicants for the master's degree program may be:
- Holders of a bachelor's degree or equivalent legal qualification;
- Holders of a foreign academic degree awarded following a first cycle of studies organized according to the principles of the Bologna Process by a state adhering to this process;
- Holders of a higher foreign academic degree recognized as meeting the objectives of a bachelor's degree by the statutorily competent body;
- Individuals with an academic, scientific, or professional curriculum recognized by the statutorily competent body of ISLA as demonstrating the capacity to undertake this cycle of studies.

The Master's program in Occupational Safety and Health Management aims to enhance the education and qualification of Senior Executives in the field of Occupational Safety, particularly Senior Occupational Safety Technicians and Occupational Safety and Health Management System Managers. The goal is to ensure the implementation and development of preventive and protective services against professional risks in the workplace, within a framework that promotes improved working conditions and economic alternatives, adjusted to technological and social changes.
The training of an Occupational Safety Technician or Manager should be characterized by a solid foundation in Occupational Safety and Health, which underpins the ability to design solutions, manage, plan, execute, and oversee actions to promote safety and prevent professional risks, as well as interact with other specialties and professionals arising from the role of coordinating workplace safety and health and preparing integrated occupational safety and health projects.

CompetênciasCompetences
Upon successful completion of the Master's degree in Occupational Safety and Health Management, graduates will be qualified to work as Senior Occupational Safety Technicians or Occupational Safety and Health Management System Managers, and will be capable of:
- Collaborating in defining the company's general policy on risk prevention;
- Promoting the integration of prevention into the overall organizational system;
- Planning and implementing an occupational safety and health management system;
- Investigating and assessing existing professional risks in the work environment in order to develop control processes;
- Designing and implementing preventive and protective measures;
- Coordinating Occupational Safety and Health activities, ensuring the framework and guidance for professionals in this field;
- Participating in work organization, energizing and motivating the organization for practices related to a good work environment;
- Managing and supervising the use of external resources in prevention and protection activities;
- Auditing the organization¿s safety management system;
- Ensuring the implementation, organization, and maintenance of the legal and regulatory documentation necessary for managing prevention within an organization;
- Promoting information and training for workers and other stakeholders in the workplace, communicating solutions and instructions to all stakeholders involved in safety processes within an organization or project;
- Mobilizing and engaging workers in the organization's prevention system;
- Developing and maintaining relationships between the organization and the prevention network bodies.

Successful completion of the Master's in Occupational Safety and Health Management allows graduates to pursue further studies at the postgraduate or doctoral level at any national or international educational institution.
However, specifically at ISLA, graduates have direct and privileged access to the Bachelor's in Occupational Safety Engineering and/or the Postgraduate Program in Integrated Management Systems (Quality, Environment, and Safety), benefiting from a specific financial discount plan and an equivalency plan.
